Five Reasons You Should Work With Me
There are roughly a bazillion photographers in the DMV, so why should you pick me?
- Price. I'm comparatively affordable right now. My rates reflect my professional photographic proficiency as I transition into additional wedding photography services. My business has always focused on portraits, so you can rest assured that I'll make you look your best.
- Speaking of that proficiency: I’ve had a camera in my hand since 1999. I’ve photographed all kinds of people, events, experiences, and places. I bring 25+ years of photographic knowledge to every wedding I shoot.
- Film. Not every photographer still shoots on film, but I do, so if you want to go old-school and incorporate film, I’m down. In fact, I'll shoot a roll or two just because it's fun. For most of your day, I'll use the glorious technological marvel that is the modern digital camera, but I always incorporate that careful approach that I learned—and still use—with film.
- I've been teaching high school English for 21 years, so I can I can deal with pretty much any crisis that might arise on your wedding day, up to and including: personal drama, wardrobe malfunctions, blood, vomit, really stubborn guests, standardized testing, and/or arguments about apostrophe usage.
- Exclusivity. Since photography is not my full-time job, I only take on a very limited number of weddings each year. When working with me, you'll never disappear into a crowd of clients, especially if your wedding is in July because that's summer break!

As you maybe noticed elsewhere on this site, I love shooting on film. You're going to get a roll or two of film photos no matter what. If you'd like to include more film, let's talk!

How many photos will I get?
50-100 per hour of coverage.
CAn you make me look better?
CAn I give you a list of specific shots?
You want to look at your photos and feel like yourself. I am happy to edit out temporary marks like bruises and blemishes. I don’t make alterations to more permanent features such as body shape, skin color, and scars. That being said I work hard to make sure that I am photographing you from flattering angles so that you feel your very best.
A shot list isn't necessary. I'll send out a questionnaire that asks about family photos, but that's all I need.
I recommend keeping three copies of your full gallery after I deliver your photos: one on your computer, one on an external hard drive, and one in a cloud service. I archive sessions when I can, but hard drives fail over time and I can’t guarantee permanent storage.
